Vernonia (population 2,250 at the last census) is nestled in the scenic Nehalem River valley of the Coast Range in Northwest Oregon. The clean air, abundant rainfall and temperate climate promote outdoor recreation-- especially fishing and hunting. The Banks-Vernonia State Linear Park (a 26-mile trail between the two communities) offers vistas of logging and farming along a former railroad right-of-way that is now used for biking, hiking and horseback riding.
